Adult Education Centre
Date Posted: Friday September 11, 2009

The VSB operates six adult education centres in Vancouver providing adult students with educational opportunities from the literacy level to secondary school completion.  Each of the centres responds to the specific needs of its community.  Program offerings reflect student course requests and enrolment patterns in each Centre.

All Centres offer a variety of learning formats which may include one-to-one literacy tutoring; structured upgrading classes at the elementary and secondary upgraded levels; structured classes at the Grade 10, 11, 12 levels; individualized education programs (self-paced) at the elementary ungraded, secondary ungraded and secondary credit completion levels.

All courses at the ungraded level focus on lifelong learning and develop specific skills which prepare the student to enter the Grade 11 and 12 courses needed to obtain either the regular high school graduation or the adult Dogwood Diploma.  All Grade 10, 11, and 12 courses follow prescribed Ministry of Education curriculae.
