The Vancouver School Board is pleased to announce the promotion of Rob Schindel to associate superintendent.

Schindel joins VSB’s senior management team after seven years as a director of instruction in the district, where he worked to support administrators, teachers, students and parents in 30 elementary and secondary schools. He also served the district as acting associate superintendent in the spring of 2017.

After joining VSB as an English and drama teacher early in his career, Schindel went on to be a vice-principal at Britannia, Lord Byng and Sir Charles Tupper secondary schools before becoming principal at Windermere Secondary.

“Rob is deeply committed to supporting all students in becoming successful learners,” said superintendent Suzanne Hoffman. “He is a collaborative leader who values diverse opinions and perspectives and engages district and school staff, parents, and students in order to find solutions focused on student success.”

In his new role, Schindel looks forward to supporting the successful implementation of the district’s strategic plan to inspire student success through innovative, caring and responsive learning environments.
