All public schools in the Vancouver school district will remain OPEN, if at all possible during winter weather, including snowfalls.
Any decision to close schools will be made by 6 a.m. at the latest and will be announced via local media outlets, including:
- CKNW (980 AM)
- CKWX (News 1130 AM)
- CBC Radio (690 AM)
- Fairchild radio (1470 AM)
- Global TV
- City TV’s Breakfast Television
- CBC television
- CTV BC
School closures will also be announced as an alert on the front page of the district website, and notices issued via Facebook and Twitter. Information about schools being closed due to weather will also be available at 604-713-5000.
Individual school closures due to unique circumstances (e.g., power outages) will be announced as early as possible in the same manner.
No announcement will be made saying that schools are open; only closures will be announced. Please do not call schools to confirm whether they are open.
