VSB to lease Laurier Annex to Conseil scolaire francophone

Board & Committees, Media Release

Vancouver School Board has agreed to lease the Sir Wilfrid Laurier Annex school building to the Conseil scolarie francophone de la Colombie-Britannique (CSF) starting in January through the 2022-23 school year.

VSB formally closed Laurier Annex in accordance with the School Act at a board meeting on April 24, 2017. The school has not had enrolled students since the 2015-16 school year.

Now, VSB has reached an agreement for the French-language school board to use Laurier Annex for the CSF’s elementary students on a five-and-a-half year lease, starting January 1, 2018. The lease includes an early termination clause after the second and third year, with a one-year notice period, if VSB requires the school for its own enrolment purposes.

The Vancouver Board of Education approved the Laurier Annex lease at its meeting on November 27, 2017.

“We are pleased that VSB was able to reach an agreement to provide additional space in south Vancouver to CSF, and that the community will once again hear the sounds of children learning and playing at Laurier Annex,” says Janet Fraser, chairperson of the Vancouver Board of Education.
