BBBB: Board Member Oath/Declaration of Office

Newly-elected trustees shall, before taking their seats on the Board of School Trustees (the “Board”) or acting as a trustee, make the legally required declaration of qualification before a judge, justice, clerk of a municipality of the province, or Secretary-Treasurer of a Board and shall forward the required certificate of the declaration to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Board.

In addition, newly-elected trustees (or trustees re-elected to office) shall, before taking their seats on the Board or acting as a trustee, take the oath/declaration of allegiance to the Crown and forward the oath/declaration to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Board.  It should be deemed sufficient compliance if a trustee makes the legally permitted declaration in the presence of two witnesses and forwards a certificate thereof to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Board.
