BDDA: Notification of Board Meetings

Classification:
B: Board Governance and Operations
Code:
BDDA

The Board of School Trustees (the “Board”) will announce all meetings publicly so that citizens can attend.

Regular meetings of the Board are announced by sending a notice to local newspapers, radio and television stations, and employee groups.  In addition, when a regular Board meeting is scheduled in a school, a notice is distributed to parents via the students of that school (see code BDA).

Special meetings of the Board are, if time permits, announced in the same manner and must be announced at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting to each trustee by delivering a written notice to him/her at his/her designated address, unless special circumstances make it necessary to waive such written notice (see code BDB).

It is the intention of the Board that, except in rare emergencies, announcements of rescheduled, special, or emergency meetings be made in sufficient time for the public to attend.
