FKA: Non-Structural Seismic Mitigation
General
It is the policy of the Board of School Trustees (the "Board") that all non-structural seismic mitigation in our school buildings be undertaken, within financial limitations, in accordance with the following direction:
The Board specifically directs:
- that all funding received from the Ministry of Education as part of the non-structural seismic allocation in the Annual Facility Grant (AFG) be annually expended on non-structural seismic mitigation within the district;
- that general expenditures be allocated in the following priorities (as originally identified in the Transit Bridge Group report dated February 1991);

- Light fixtures
- Suspended heaters
- Ventilation diffusers
- Parapets
- Covered play areas
- Cornices
- Fences
- Partitions ( un-reinforced brick / block / hollow tile )
Priority 2 items
- Book shelves
- Filing cabinets
- Large office equipment
- Lab shelving
- Kitchen equipment, with gas
- Windows – interior, exterior and overhead glass
- Boilers - with brick base
- Water heaters
- Slate roofs
Priority 3 Items
- Vending machines
- Refrigerators
- Shop equipment
- T-bar ceilings
- Large wall hangings
- Boilers - no brick base
- Expansion tanks
Priority 4 Items
- Audio/visual equipment
- Hanging plants
- Fire extinguishers
- Elevators – hydraulic
Priority 5 Items
- Cladding
- Ornamentation
- Exterior stairways
- Exterior signs
That Facilities maintain up to date records of the non-structural seismic mitigation measures implemented in each school, and
That these records be listed by school.
