The Board of School Trustees (the “Board”) provides support for designated schools and programs in order that certain community objectives and/or socioeconomic and recreation goals may be met. These programs include:
- Inner City Schools
- School Meal Program
- Kids at Risk
- Community Schools
- C&CES Community Education Services (CES) Non-Academic Programs
As the facility needs of all other programs are not recognized by the Ministry of Education, funding for facilities for some of these VSB Board initiatives must be derived from the operating budget. The space needs of these programs can, therefore, only be accommodated if they do not adversely impact on the delivery of the Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K - 12) regular or district programs, and if surplus space is available. While the Ministry provides renovation funding for the school meal program, any renovation or maintenance costs associated with other programs should be included in the program's operating budget.
