GBB: Staff Involvement in Decision Making
The Board of School Trustees (the “Board”) encourages its employees to contribute their ideas for the benefit of the school system. The staff will be asked to help develop policies and regulations, establish goals and objectives, and plan curriculum, services, budgets, and facilities.
In devising operational procedures for the schools, school administrators will seek the suggestions of those employees who will be affected by such procedures. The professional staff will have opportunity to contribute to the development of the curriculum and to recommend policies and regulations about students and instruction. Although individual contributions and suggestions are always welcome, the usual forum for such consultation at the school level is the staff committee established in accordance with the terms of the negotiated agreement currently in force.
The Superintendent of Schools will create channels for the ready exchange of ideas among staff, administration, and Board, and will inform the Board of relevant staff opinion when presenting recommendations for Board actions.
