GBEC: Employees Living With Human Immuno-Deficiency Virus (HIV) Including AIDS
Recognizing the potentially serious physical, social and emotional problems faced by staff diagnosed as having HIV infection, including an HIV associated condition such as AIDS, the Board of School Trustees (the “Board”) would like to assist these individuals as early in their disease as possible to make their long-term work plans, while maintaining confidentiality. To this end, the Board encourages these individuals to make an appointment with the Board's Occupational Health Physician to review their health status and the work options open to them. These work options will include, but not be limited to, such things as extended health leave and alternative job placements to reduce stress and, thus, allow the individual choices.
