GCBC: Professional Staff Fringe Benefits
It is the policy of the Board of School Trustees (the “Board”) that appropriate bonuses and fringe benefits, such as various forms of insurance, be included in compensation provisions for professional staff and that retirement benefits, Canada pension, employment insurance, and deferred savings plans be provided as authorized or required by law.
Professional staff members covered by the agreement(s) currently in force between the recognized employee union/association(s) and the Board will receive bonuses and fringe benefits in accordance with the terms of such agreement(s).
Professional staff members not covered by a negotiated agreement will receive bonuses and benefits in accordance with their individual contracts with the Board on the basis of salary and bonus packages annually reviewed by the Board.
The Secretary-Treasurer will administer such retirement plans, health and accident insurance, savings, and annuity programs as the Board may authorize or the law may prescribe.
WORKERS' COMPENSATION
District employees are covered under the Workers' Compensation Act and are entitled to its benefits under the terms of the Act. Premiums for participation in the Workers' Compensation insurance plan are paid entirely by the district.
GROUP INSURANCE
Members of the recognized union/association(s) will be entitled to participate in a package of insurance benefits, as detailed in the negotiated agreement(s) between the union/association(s) and the Board and in accordance with the specific provisions of the existing insurance policy.
Professional staff members not covered by a negotiated agreement will be entitled to insurance benefits in accordance with the terms of their individual contracts with the Board.
