Administrative Summer School Positions
Administrative positions in the summer schools of the Board of School Trustees (the “Board”) are to be considered temporary positions for the terms stated in the specific contracts offered. The positions are advertised in the Superintendent's Bulletin. Senior management reviews all applications and makes recommendations for appointment on a one-month basis. The Board approves a standard rate of pay each year.
Summer School Positions
Staff for summer programs is usually recruited from among suitably qualified teachers on permanent or temporary contract with the Board. If there are any vacancies remaining, summer school positions may be offered to suitably qualified substitute teachers or out-of-district teachers who apply for summer positions.
The Board annually approves a pay schedule for summer school teaching. Salaries are usually quoted on an hourly basis because not all assignments involve the same number of teaching hours, and the hourly rate is based on the negotiated contract with the Vancouver Teachers' Federation.
