GDBA: Support Staff Slary Schedules
Salary schedules and wage rates are subject to review and modification through the collective bargaining process, where one exists. Salary schedules and wage rates for support staff members or groups not covered by a collective agreement will be reviewed and may be amended at the discretion of the Board of School Trustees (the “Board”), usually once a year.
As a consequence of a situation that arose in 1985 when an Arbitration Board awarded Vancouver teachers a half increment for the 1985-86 school year, the Board approved the following policy:
"That the Board adopt a policy that all increments for teachers, administrators, co-ordinators, and non-teaching (support) staff be included in annual budgets so that the payment of increments is not a matter of future negotiations or arbitrations".
