GDC/GDCA/GDD: Support Staff Recruiting/Posting of Vacancies/Hiring
It is the policy of the Board of School Trustees (the “Board”) to staff the schools with the best qualified support personnel and to use all personnel according to their training and skill, the needs of the schools, and the terms of employment as specified in employee contracts.
The recruitment and selection of candidates for support staff positions are the responsibility of the Associate Superintendent - Human Resources, or his/her designate, in consultation with school administrators and supervisors.
The Human Resources Division will maintain a list of vacancies in support staff positions and will assist supervisors and school administrators in filling them. The recruitment process will be in accordance with applicable negotiated agreements and persons already in the employ of the Board will have the opportunity to apply.
Hiring and assignment for all support staff positions will be on the basis of merit and suitability for the job, without regard to race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, political belief, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, or age (unless based on a bona fide occupational requirement).
