Media Productions by Outside Agencies

The following policy concerns requests from both public and independent producers for access to Board of School Trustees (the “Board”) properties and resources for media production purposes. Such productions include feature length and documentary films, videotapes, and other multimedia productions. Productions undertaken by the news media are not affected by this policy, unless they are feature or documentary length.

Policy Statement

The Board encourages the use of Board facilities for media production purposes by both public and independent producers. However, support for the use of Board facilities and resources is provided with the clear understanding that the instructional program will not be compromised. Furthermore, Board support and co-operation is extended on the basis of contractual obligations that provide for both cost recovery and the waiving of Board liability.

Inclusion of Students in Media Production

As is further outlined in KGF-R Media Productions-Regulation, students may participate within a media production if the appropriate steps are taken and reflect district policy.
