DPAC logo
![]() | When I began the process of designing the logo for DPAC, I knew they had two major themes they wanted to incorporate. They wanted to convey the idea that parents can also be teachers, to reflect a series of videos they have, and the concept of parents bring involved in their children’s education. They had previously used an apple in one of their videos and wanted to incorporate that into the design. There had been a photograph on the previous DPAC website of a parent reading with a child. I thought that was a perfect image as a starting off point. I immediately thought of the idea of a single line drawing that way the parent child and book could actually be physically connected, to represent the parents involvement. The line starts at the left hand of the child and winds its way into the book and then into and around the parent. The next thing I did was play with this icon in relation to the apple. In the end the most natural placement seemed to be to place the child and parent inside a large apple, as if they are enveloped by the larger theme of parent as teacher. Bronwen Kyffin
