District Literacy Day 2010

On February 1, 2010, the annual District Literacy Day will be held at the Italian Cultural Centre.  Three exciting international speakers will be presenting: Debbie Miller's all-day session will focus on Grade K-5, while Michelle Kelley and Nicki Clausen-Grace will focus on Grades 4-7 in a simultaneous session.  All three of these educators have authored important current resources for teaching literacy.

This conference is geared toward teachers from Vancouver Literacy Project schools, but would be valuable to any elementary school educators.  All participants will be able to view displays of various publishers' resources during the day, and a catered lunch will be provided as part of the registration fee of $40.  Registration will be limited to 600 participants.

Celebration of Learning

At 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2010 at the Italian Cultural Centre, Vancouver schools will be presenting evidence of their schools' learning journeys by displaying samples of their work and sharing the results of their inquiries.  This will be the culmination of their hard work for the year.  

Teachers and administrators from schools who are considering a pursuit of similar inquiries next year are invited to come view and be inspired by the presentations.
