Ideal Mini School
Ideal Mini School is a small, academic school within the Vancouver Board of Education system. We offer a complete grade 8 to 12 academic program in an enriched, small group-learning environment. There are six teachers, one secretary, one counselor and approximately 125 students. We emphasize social responsibility, leadership and community, while developing a personal sense of independence and self-confidence.
One of our major strengths lies in the cooperative atmosphere we create. The school is a community effort. There are often school activities, student-run clubs, and weekly school meetings. These, and other informal events, are the roots from which school involvement and spirit growth.
Our comprehensive curriculum stresses academic excellence and well-roundedness. We want Ideal students to develop the skills necessary to enter a post-secondary institution, to pursue chosen careers, and to deal effectively with the complexities of contemporary society.
It is our goal to recognize the individuality and creative potential of each person in the school. We encourage cooperative and sensitive interaction. Class format varies: lectures, group discussions, individual and group projects, presentations, flipped classroom, online discussion forums, guest speakers, field trips etc.
We offer a well-rounded program, which includes the following courses:

In addition to formal courses, we offer a variety of student-lead clubs and groups. If they wish, students have the opportunity to participate in music and extra-curricular programs (e.g. sports, clubs, teams) at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School.
Why Choose Ideal?
Students choose Ideal Mini School for various reasons. Some want greater academic challenge and stimulation. Others benefit from the extra attention possible in smaller classes. In many instances, students desire a personal and supportive environment where informal counseling and friendships are possible. Our students and parents play a large role in helping create a positive learning community.
We expect students to make a personal commitment to the school. This includes involvement not only in academic work but also in social and personal activities. For all students, Ideal can mean participation in a positive educational experience. Here, it is possible for students to develop initiative and confidence while improving educational and social skills.
Students must have a B average, be interested in an academically rich program and be able to work independently. As well, they must maintain regular attendance, be punctual and demonstrate co-operative social skills.
