If there is no change in the catchment school with the change of address, you can inform the school when your child returns to school.
To change schools during the summer bring:- your new rental agreement or property purchase agreement [with subjects removed],
- proof of your identity - WITH photo such as a passport or citizenship/PR card (note that a driver's licence is not adequate)
- your child's most recent report card.
DRPC staff will then process your application and put your child on the waitlist for the appropriate school. Please note that since schools are closed, you will likely not have confirmation of placement until some time in early September.

How do I register my child for a cross-boundary school?Vancouver schools will begin accepting cross-boundary applications from February 15 to March 1, 2012. Families who submit a cross-boundary application during this time will be informed of their child’s status by March 30, 2012.
Families should visit their neighbourhood school and pick up a cross boundary application form. On the form families are asked to indicate other schools to which they have submitted a cross boundary form.
If the requisite space and facilities are determined to be available, cross boundary applications will be accepted in the following priority:
- Students enrolled as residents during the current school year or accepted on a cross boundary application during the previous year;
- Siblings(when other siblings are attending the school concurrently); Students enrolled in on-site childcare programs, or whose childcare needs are provided within the attendance area;
- Students whose residence falls within the attendance areas of other Vancouver schools;
- Students whose residence falls outside the Vancouver School District
- Applications will be time and date stamped upon receipt at the school.
Families may only accept one cross boundary offer. Once a family agrees to accept an offer, their application for cross boundary at other schools will be nullified.
Waitlists will be established for cross boundary students not accepted, to be maintained until September 30.
Families can submit a cross boundary application after March 1; however, schools do not have an obligation to formally inform parents of their status. Cross-boundary applications submitted after March 1, 2012 will be processed on a first-come basis, accounting for space, program and staffing availability.

There is no deadline to register for your neighbourhood school for the current school year. However, you are encouraged to register early. Students who cannot be accommodated at their neighbourhood school will be placed on the school's waitlist.

Can parents/legal guardians register by telephone, fax or e-mail?

What happens after I register my child at the District Reception and Placement Centre?
After you have registered your child at the Reception Centre and if all required documents are submitted, we will assess your child if needed, and then forward your child's file to your neighborhood school. Elementary schools usually need 2 to 5 working days to process each student's file, and secondary schools, 5 to 10 working days. If you have not heard from the school within these periods of time, phone or visit the school directly. If your neighborhood school is full, then the District Placement Administrator and the principal of your neighborhood school will find a place for your child at a nearby school. The principal of your neighbourhood school will call you and inform you of the placement as soon as it is ready. The District Reception Centre does not have placement information.

We suggest you bring a healthy snack and water for all family members when you are registering during July and August.
