Secondary Student Sustainability Grants

Returning for 2019-2020, Secondary School Sustainability Grantsare available for students to develop a sustainability project which initiates or advances a sustainability related issued in their schools. 18 grants of up to $1000 are available for student-led sustainability initiatives related to the VSB Environmental Sustainability Plan.

Elementary School Sustainability Grants
Applications are now closed. Recipients have been notified.
NEW for 2019-2020, Elementary and Annex schools are invited to take on a sustainability project that teachers and students are passionate about. Schools are eligible to receive a grant of up to $500 that can be used toward a sustainability initiative related to the VSB Environmental Sustainability Plan.

Advancing Sustainability at the VSB
VSB Teachers, students, parents, and staff have been advancing the sustainability of their schools for many years. This has included projects that increase energy efficiency, create outdoor learning opportunities, and promote active transportation.
In recent years, the Board has encouraged a more comprehensive approach. This includes:
- The 2010 adoption of the VSB's first Sustainability Framework
- The 2013/14 Sustainability Audit to evaluate the progress of sustainability in the district:
- The development of a multi-year Environmental Sustainability Plan, which includes input from all levels of the VSB community.
