Charting a Vision for the Future for Adult Education

Before you take your first steps you have to know where you're headed. That was the premise behind a recent special visioning exercise for adult education teachers. Drawing together more than one hundred educators from across Vancouver, the session aimed to define the vision, mission and values inherent to adult education in the VSB.

"We have a grand history, we have a shared history. You can't just stay in one place," said Maureen Ciarniello, Associate Superintendent of Adult Education.

Participants shared stories of student success, including many inspirational accounts of students going on to advanced education after graduating from local Adult Education programs. Challenges were discussed and articulated with key points graphically recorded on a giant banner.
