Students from two Drawing and Painting 11/12 classes at Vancouver Technical were thrilled that their "Expressive Paintings" were put on display at the 2013 "Heart-Mind" Conference on May 9 -11 at UBC. This conference  "How Mindfulness Helps Children Thrive" is organized by the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education. Students in these classes participated in mindful breathing exercises, mindful seeing, mindful drawing and reflective writing.

The aim of the "Expressive Paintings" was to show the transformation from one emotional state to another and in many cases, from "a current state to an ideal state".

"I'm simply thrilled that these talented young artists' work was showcased at UBC," said the Van Tech art teacher Susan Jones.
