In early November 60 students from across Metro Vancouver converged on Gladstone Secondary to take part in the "It's My Future" student consultation series. Students discussed issues ranging from the importance of student engagement to how school districts can better prepare them for the world of work.
Vancouver Superintendent Steve Cardwell attended the event and was joined by Surrey Superintendent Mike McKay and West Vancouver Superintendent Chris Kennedy.
During the morning discussions, students brainstormed ways that their education could be improved. Key ideas included improving the hands on nature of their course work, enhanced mentorship and internship opportunities and more specialization in program offerings.
The events were hosted by The Learning Partnership - the organization that annually promotes Take Our Kids to Work Day and Welcome to Kindergarten among a number of other programs and initiatives.
