Renfrew Elementary took their celebrations around Aboriginal Awareness Day to a new level with a variety of special workshops held at the school throughout Wednesday, June 19.
The morning kicked off with an official welcome to the territory and some student songs. Later in the day, students got some dance lessons from the Louis Riel Metis Dance Group, got to practice drumming at a Powwow drum workshop led by Red Fox Drummers and showed off some of the artwork they were most proud of at the Aboriginal Art Gallery showcase.
The whole day closed with gifting of bannock to the student body.
