Mini Olympics at Jamieson Elementary Wins Gold Medal for Fun

If Olympic medals were given for enthusiasm, good sportsmanship and creativity - the students and staff at Dr. Annie B. Jamieson Elementary would win in every category.

With senior students as coaches, the junior students spent the morning participating in a wide variety of winter Olympic sports. Teachers used their creativity to recreate speed skating (mop-heads on feet), slalom skiing (tennis balls on metre sticks), luge (wooden carts and cones), biathlon (beanbags and hula-hoops), curling (Frisbees and a painted floor) and many more.

In keeping with the formality of the Olympics, the day started with O Canada and a reading of the Olympic Charter; however, the Jamieson Elementary version ended with the more modern phrase "May the odds be ever in your favour".

Smiles, laughter, and post-event hot chocolates were the major awards of the day, and everyone left a winner.

The Jamieson Elementary Mini Olympics will be featured on CTV's Perry's Prospects tonight, Thursday, February 13th at 6:00 and 11:30pm.
