Aboriginal Day Launched at Maquinna Annex

On April 25, Maquinna Annex students participated in a school-based Aboriginal Day, an event coordinated by Kristina Leon, the school's Aboriginal Enhancement Worker and school staff. Members of the Aboriginal community visited the school to teach students about Aboriginal histories, traditions, cultures and contributions. Each student attended four workshops where they made bannock, participated in a drumming circle, heard legends, and learned about and then crafted a talking stick.

Staff and students were grateful to the Aboriginal Elders, VSB Aboriginal Enhancement Workers and members of the Red Fox Drumming Society for generously sharing their time and knowledge at Chief Maquinna Annex's Aboriginal Day.
