Thanks to a generous donation from Ivivva and a partnership with UBC Acadia Commons Block, students from Norma Rose Point and University Hill Elementary schools were able to participate in the West 2 Community Schools Team after school yoga program.
Led by yoga instructor Michael Olivotto, students in grades K-2 discovered the practice of yoga through games, dance and asana. These afterschool yoga classes taught students how to take the time to slow down, breathe and feel joyful, while also developing their physical fitness.
"We would like to thank Acadia Commons Block for partnering with us to offer programs for VSB students living on UBC campus," says CST Programmer Alison Krahn. "We would also like to thank Ivivva for providing the yoga mats for the program."
The West 2 Community Schools Team is part of the Vancouver School Board, and operates in the West side of Vancouver. Its primary goal is to provide programs and services to students living in the area.
