False Creek and Elsie Roy Students Cheer on All Nations Canoe Gathering

Hundreds of elementary students lined the banks of False Creek on Tuesday, September 17 to support Aboriginal canoe rowers who plied the calm waters of the inlet as part of Reconciliation Canada's All Nations Canoe Gathering.

Students from Elsie Roy and False Creek Elementary cheered their hearts out as a small flotilla of canoes made their way past them. The canoes travelled from Vanier Park to Science World.

School staff from both schools said their participation in the All Nations Canoe Gathering was a terrific learning opportunity for students to discuss and consider Canada's First Nations history.
