On September 29, 185 hikers formed 26 teams and took part in the second annual Mt. Kilimanjaro Grouse Grind for Alzheimer's event at Grouse Mountain.
The event challenged participants to climb the Grind seven times (equivalent to climbing to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa).
The VSB had its own contingent in the mix led by VSB Supervisor of Budgeting and Forecasting Ishver Khunguray. Khunguray's team was composed of 12 dedicated hikers including VSB staff members Chris Allen, Tara Hayley, Will Hsu, Lisa Landry, Brenda Potter and Candace Reid
"We were hiking in memory of my dad who passed away from the disease in 2011. We had team of 12 which raised $1300," said Khunguray.
The event surpassed last year's total number of participants and has raised over $100,000 to date. The money raised will be used for support and information resources, programs and services related to Alzheimer's disease, research and advocacy.
