Hundreds of flannel-clad students, along with staff, parents, and community members came together for the 4th Annual Renfrew Elementary Breakfast with Santa.
Nearly every student and staff member was dressed in cozy pajamas for the day, and staff and parents served a continental breakfast for all.
The event gives the school community an opportunity to come together and celebrate the end of year festivities. Organized for the past two years by Selma Smith, Renfrew Elementary Vice Principal, Smith is quick to note that large events like this are a community effort.
"It is always a special time for our students and families of the Renfrew community. The Renfrew staff and PAC have been involved in organizing this holiday event since 2010," says Smith.
Renfrew has a large student population, with over 500 students and parents coming out for the breakfast. A highlight for everyone was getting a photo taken with Santa, with the lineup to meet "the man in red" winding around the gymnasium.
"We are reminded, once again, how wonderful our community spirit is at our amazing school," says Smith. "The success of this breakfast is a direct result of the generous time and efforts of our staff, the PAC, and from donations from some of our community businesses."
Proceeds from this event will be used to fund learning technology at Renfrew.
