On January 16, hundreds of students flocked through Van Tech Secondary's cafeteria to learn more about the trades. Booths were set up advertising BCIT, VCC and a variety of other VSB ACE-IT programs including the culinary arts, carpentry, fashion, hairdressing and Tupper Tech programs. Over 300 students attended along with 25 organizations and trades programs from across Metro Vancouver.
The exhibition followed a panel discussion involving VSB graduates who've gone on to succeed in their chosen fields. Speakers included Mark Jang, a current line cook at Cactus Club, Johnson Quon, a VSB painter, Jennifer Kelly, a styling educator, Alex Stahl, a site supervisor at Lyle Construction and Rodney Robinson, an auto service technician at JMT Auto Solutions. Other speakers included Marko Wong, a VSB electrician, Skylar Albrecht, a welder and rigger, Crystal Tan a baking and pastry student and Tyler Jones, a mechanical plumber based in Fort McMurray.
