New Video Showcases How the Canucks Family Education Centre Can Change Lives

Each year, the Canucks Family Education Centre (CFEC) supports over a dozen mothers from diverse backgrounds as they work on improving their education. The Canucks Family Education Centre (CFEC) Family Literacy program is a partnership between Britannia Community Services Centre Society, the Canucks for Kids Fund, The Vancouver Sun Raise-a-Reader program and 40 program partners. The Centre opened October 3, 2002.

The primary goal of the Canucks Family Education Centre is to develop and implement a seamless system of quality family literacy programming that works with existing service providers and institutions to create meaningful opportunities for children, youth and adults to learn together.

Below is a short video created by the CFEC and Vancouver Canucks that tells the powerful and personal story of Margarita, who in 2007 fled a dangerous situation in El Salvador and was forced to leave behind her baby son without knowing when or if she would ever see him again.
