BC has the highest child poverty rate in Canada and that's why CLICK (Contributing to Lives of Inner City Kids) is kicking off its annual 2015 Inner City Kids Week from May 11-15.
CLICK has been raising funds for programs that make a critical difference to children and youth living in poverty in our city for more than 10 years. CLICK supports safe out-of-school care, food programs, literacy, sports and recreation and the arts.
"CLICK can't do this alone. We believe that Vancouverites don't want thousands of kids, in our own back yard, left behind because of poverty. So we're asking Vancouverites to show they care during 2015 Inner City Kids Week," said president Catherine Atyeo.
2015 Inner City Kids Week kicks off at 1 pm on Monday, May 11 on the front lawn of the Vancouver Art Gallery with the Annual Pulling for Inner City Kids tug-of-war competition. High school student teams, pulling with their VPD School Liaison Officers, will compete for the coveted trophy. On Thursday, May 14, CLICK will hold its "Definitely Not a Gala!" Fundraising Reception and Silent Auction. For more information and to get tickets (only $35) go to: www.clicktokids.ca
CLICK's goal is to raise $75,000 in 2015 for programs that support inner city kids in Vancouver. One way Vancouverites can help is to make a donation towards this goal at: www.clicktokids.ca.
