VSB Strikes Gold at The 21st Skills Competence Canada National Competitions

In May, the VSB sent seven students from Tupper, Hamber, Kits, Churchill, Van Tech and David Thompson to the 21st Skills Competence Canada National Competition in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. To win a berth on the BC team, all seven students had to earn gold at the Provincial competition in April. After two days of grueling competitions three VSB students proved their superior skills and strengths and walked away with two golds and a bronze medal.

Three Eric Hamber Secondary students medaled at the 21st Skills Competence Canada National competition.

Graphic Design: Tiffany Quon, Grade 12, won bronze after two six hour-projects that challenged the skills of all the competitors.

Baking: Clarissa Roque, Grade 10, captured gold as the competition's youngest baker. Baking her way through breads, cookies, tarts, macarons and cream puffs.

Fashion Technology: Coco Yu, Grade 12, achieved gold after 12 hours of pattern drafting and sewing over two days. Yu also received the highest score of all the British Columbian competitors and was awarded the Best of Regional medal.

We congratulate all the competitors on their achievements.

WorldSkills Update:
