DT Students Are Reigning Champions at Making Money

David Thompson Secondary students are the reigning National Champions in the 2015 Junior Achievement Stock Market Competition (officially know as the ISP).

The Money Management 12 class team, consisting of Mandeep Aulakh, Sanjit Parmar, and Tanveer Sanghera, came first in Canada, out of roughly 1500 teams. The students successful project turned $100 000 into $220 000 in six weeks. This is the third time a team from DT has won a national title in this type of competition.

In addition, the team of Chris Tong, Kenny Wong, Angus Kwan and Kyle Lee came third in BC and Jaskaran Sanghera came 4th in BC.

The Investment Strategies Program (ISP) is a learning opportunity for Grade 8-12 students to explore the ways in which people save and invest for their future. The program includes interactive lessons and culminates in an online stock market simulation, called Invest JA, where students manage their own simulated stock portfolio. The simulation is linked to live data from North American stock markets and is an engaging opportunity for students to apply the investing principles taught in the program.

The Investment Strategies Program is one of a series of programs offered by Junior Achievement of Canada.
