Champlain Heights Student Heads to Sao Paulo for Youth World Cup

Champlain Heights Elementary School student Massud Habibullah is heading to Brazil to compete in Sao Paulo in the upcoming Danone Nations Cup.

The Danone Nations Cup is the world's biggest soccer tournament for children aged 10 to 12. This year teams will arrive from 32 countries to compete.

Every year since 2000, around 2.5 million children take part in local, regional and then national Danone Nations Cup competitions before the winners fly off to compete in the World Final.

Habibullah is one of BC's top players and is among 12 youths selected to be on the Youth National Team. He currently plays for Mountain United HPL, which competes in the highest league level.

Prior to heading to Brazil, Habibullah will train in mid-November for a week Fortuis Sport Complex in Burnaby.
