VSB SERT Teams Take Over Old Douglas Elementary for Two Days of Emergency Response Training

This November, VSB staff broke into eight search and rescue teams and practiced their disaster response skills in the old Douglas Elementary school building. In the dark halls and classrooms, SERT members navigated fog and found "injured" Killarney Secondary drama students.

"It really gives people an opportunity to get together and practice skills that are important for a good team dynamic in an emergency," says Jane Morris, the VSB's Emergency Management Officer.

The entire excersise was overseen by VSB HR Emergency Management staff and Vancouver Fire Fighters.
