A group of 23 students and 3 chaperones from Sir Charles Tupper were in Ghent, Belgium this morning. The group was not in Brussels at the time of the attacks.
All students and chaperones are safe and accounted for.
The field trip chaperones are staying in close contact with parents to keep them informed.
District staff are currently monitoring the situation and are in regular contact with the chaperones.
The group is currently travelling to Paris via coach and will be flying home as soon as possible.
"District and school staff have taken every precaution to ensure the safety of our students on this and all international field trips," says VSB Superintendent, Scott Robinson. "We are grateful the chaperones and students are safe and sound and on their way home. Our thoughts are with the people of Belgium and those who are directly affected by today's events."
As always, the safety of VSB students and staff remains a top priority.
