Jamieson Elementary went into lockdown late this morning (May 18, 2017) after a man ran into the school claiming he was being chased. The school immediately notified Vancouver Police Department, which began a sweep of the school. Police have spoken to the man claiming to be chased, but found no one else on site.
Students and staff remained in their rooms while police conducted a precautionary search and they are all reported to be safe.
VPD does not believe that there is a danger to anyone in the neighbour and the lockdown was lifted at about 12:25 p.m. School will be in session for the remainder of the day and extra counselling support is on the way.
