Students and staff at Dr. Annie B. Jamieson Elementary celebrated Thanksgiving with a special lunch laid on by the school's Parent Advisory Council (PAC).
Close to 600 people sat down to the meal of chicken noodle soup, bread roll and pumpkin pie after a group of Grade 7 students welcomed them in with a musical performance.
"It was a community building idea in the Thanksgiving tradition," said PAC chairperson Stephanie Yada. "We are very multicultural and the students don't necessarily have this tradition at home. It's about that tradition and sitting down together to enjoy a meal."
Jamieson principal Carrie Sleep said the event helped connect children to their school community.
