Immigrants Parents as Literacy Support Program (IPALS) is a free family literacy program for families with 3-5 years old children and have permanent residency or with refugee status. IPALS helps prepare children for school and provides parents and caregivers with strategies to encourage English language and literacy skills.
This year, VSB will have IPALS in Chinese for Mandarin speaking families and IPALS in English with translation for multi-lingual families. It will consist of 1 on-site session & 7 virtual sessions.
IPALS for Mandarin speaking families
Participants must have permanent residency status and be prepared to commit to all eight sessions, with
1 on-site session at Collingwood Neighbourhood School and 7 virtual
sessions with follow up calls.
