Vancouver Alternate Secondary School Inter-Agency Programs
Aries is a program where Aboriginal youth aged 13 - 16 are provided a safe, non-threatening environment in which to learn, grow and enjoy life, regardless of academic or personal challenges.
Cedar Walk provides a respectful, safe, and culturally relevant environment to address the needs of Aboriginal students who have an extended history of non-engagement in school. A vocational focus helps students learn pre-employment skills and provides work experience opportunities.
East Van Education Centre
East Van Education Centre (formerly Eagle High and West Coast Learning Centre) integrates an academic program with individual and group counseling and recreational activities.
Genesis: North, Central and South
The Genesis programs address the needs of students ages 16 to 18 years old who are working on Grades 10 and 11 completion and Adult Dogwood, and have an extended history of non-engagement in school.
Heron's Nest Education Centre for Young Parents
Heron's Nest Education Centre for Young Parents is designed to meet the needs of pregnant and parenting young people (moms and dads) in Grades 8-12. Heron's Nest operates in partnership with on-site Emma's Daycare (operated by the YWCA).
Pinnacle is a self-paced senior program with access to Probation Officers, Social Workers, Drug and Alcohol Counsellors and Mental Health Workers. In addition to providing educational programming, the program staff is dedicated to working individually with students to focus on their social and emotional needs.
South Vancouver Learning Centre
The South Vancouver Learning Program addresses the needs of students who have an extended history of non-engagement in school. Youth can attend the program full time or afternoons only, dependent on their needs.
Summit is accessible by social worker or probation officer referral only. Summit is an outreach educational program for students who need additional guidance and support to reengage them in an educational setting.
Tupper Nova (formerly Hamber House) is a day treatment program with a full range of mental health services and education programming for youth 13-18 years of age who have serious mental health concerns and are unable to attend their neighbourhood school.
