Heron's Nest Education Centre for Young Parents
Heron's Nest Education Centre for Young Parents is designed to meet the needs of pregnant and parenting young people (moms and dads) in Grades 8-12. Heron's Nest operates in partnership with on-site Emma's Daycare (operated by the YWCA).
Located on the Britannia Secondary School site, the Outreach program is for students of Aboriginal heritage, who wish to improve their academic and social/emotional skills, prepare for post-secondary programs and complete courses leading to a B.C. Secondary School Graduation Certificate
Providing senior secondary students with an opportunity to complete grades 10, 11 and 12 in an alternative setting while accessing social and emotional support from Youth and Family workers
Take a Hike
A unique program at John Oliver Secondary School that incorporates outdoor and adventure-based activities for at-risk youth aged 15-19, grades 10-12, who are not able to cope in regular high school classes
A district wide program that recognizes individual learning styles and life experiences, provides social and emotional support to students and their families/caregivers, and liaises with community agencies
Tupper Nova (formerly Hamber House) is a day treatment program with a full range of mental health services and education programming for youth 13-18 years of age who have serious mental health concerns and are unable to attend their neighbourhood school.
