Youth Explore Trades at John Oliver

HOW COOL IS THIS! Students from Mr. Lee’s Youth Explore Trades Program at John Oliver Secondary are raising the walls of the cabin they’re building. By doing this, students learn how to properly use a cordless nailer, impact driver, circular saw, as well as confirm if the structure is plumb and true.

Mr. Lee offers this class because VSB partners with Skilled Trades BC (previously Industry Trade Authority) to give students an opportunity to explore different trades. Building a cabin exposes students to many different tasks from multiple different trades. Once the cabin is complete, his students can make an informed decision of which path they want to choose as a career.
