When two VSB Youth and Family Workers asked Lord Tennyson Elementary Principal, Jacquie Lavoie, if her school might be able to fill 13 Christmas Hampers for underprivileged schools on the East Side of Vancouver, she didn't bat an eye, answering with confidence, of course!

Hundreds of flannel-clad students, along with staff, parents, and community members came together for the 4thAnnual Renfrew Elementary Breakfast with Santa.

Nearly every student and staff member was dressed in cozy pajamas for the day, and staff and parents served a continental breakfast for all.

This year, one of the topics of focus with the Magee Leaders Program is food security and food waste in our society. As a way to learn more and discuss this topic, the Magee students recently went to Vancity Theatre for a screening of “Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story”.

In a recent assembly at Sir Wilfred Laurier Elementary, each grade took turns performing a Bhangra dance for their fellow students and the Laurier parent community. With deafening cheers from the audience, classes from Kindergarten to Grade 7 performed and celebrated their new-found love of dance.
