VBE Examines Options to Preserve General Gordon Old Schoolhouse

Vancouver – (March 1, 2016) – The Vancouver Board of Education has instructed district staff to explore options to preserve the old yellow schoolhouse at the General Gordon Elementary site.

Trustees have directed staff to report back to the March 7 public board meeting. No actions will happen with the building until the board considers the new staff report.

Mike Lombardi, Chair, Vancouver Board of Education: “VBE values heritage preservation. We have asked staff to take another look at options for the General Gordon schoolhouse before anything happens to the hundred-year-old building. We will consider staff’s report at our upcoming public board meeting next Monday.”
