VSB Staff Report – Interim Long Range Facilities Plan

Board & Committees, Schools & Students

VSB staff have developed a report for trustees to consider in the development of an Interim Long Range Facilities Plan (LRFP).

The report will be discussed by trustees and stakeholders at the Planning and Facilities Committee, Wednesday January 20, before being presented to the Board for consideration at a public Board meeting January 25th.

The interim plan will be submitted to the Ministry of Education January 31, 2016.

Safety of students and staff is of the utmost importance to VBE. A Long Range Facilities plan is intended to be a framework that looks at how to achieve that through seismic upgrading of schools, funded by the Ministry of Education, along with ensuring schools are located where they are needed to meet future demand.

The VBE intends to consult with stakeholders and members of the public regarding the LRFP starting in February.  An updated LRFP will be submitted to the Ministry of Education in June 2016.
