VSB travels to Europe with Ministry of Education to recruit French-language teachers

Schools & Students

VSB Superintendent Suzanne Hoffman is traveling to Europe with the Ministry of Education and BCTF to build on the Province's efforts to recruit French-language teachers to help address the shortage in BC. The delegation will be working with representatives from the French and Belgian education sectors to discuss opportunities for students in French-speaking teacher training programs wishing to become teachers, and for existing teachers, to work in BC.

The BC government is covering the costs for Ms. Hoffman. She worked with the Ministry until recently, and was vital in assisting with B.C.’s curriculum implementation. She will be helping get the word out that BC and the VSB need French teachers. VSB Director of Instruction Adrian Keough, who speaks fluent French and is highly involved with VSB's teacher recruitment, is also joining the delegation. VSB will cover the costs for Mr. Keough from the existing recruitment budget.
