KFA: Special Interest Materials

Classification:
K: School-Community Relations
Code:
KFA; also IIAD

Students and faculty of the schools are to be protected from intrusions on their time by announcements, flyers, posters, bulletins, and communications of any kind from individuals and organizations not directly connected with the school.

However, from time to time, materials may be made available by non-profit or commercial organizations that have educational value or provide a service to students that otherwise might not be available to them. The principal will determine which materials may be distributed to students, subject to approval of senior management when there is doubt about the appropriateness of the materials.

Distribution of Hate Literature Prohibited

Because the Board of School Trustees (the “Board”) abhors any philosophy that promotes intolerance or hatred toward any identifiable group, including any group distinguished by sex, colour, race, religion, ethnic origin or sexual orientation.  Because the Board wishes to take a clear stance with regard to such philosophies and any propaganda that may be produced in their support, the Board prohibits the distribution of hate literature, either inside the schools or on school grounds.

DMT Responsibility: SUPT.
