Our focus for November was partnerships. From local not-for-profit community groups to post-secondary institutions to the municipal government, the Vancouver School District works to develop partnerships across a broad range of areas to enrich learning opportunities for students.
We highlighted how the District works together with the Vancouver Police Department to support students and families in their school communities. We announced how the organization Ocean Wise launched a free bus program to transport students to and from the Vancouver Aquarium. We also heard details of how Killarney Secondary partners with Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
Also during the month we commemorated National Aboriginal Veterans Day and Remembrance Day. We honoured support staff on Support Staff Recognition Day, and saw how students spent Take Our Kids To Work Day.
Finally we looked at how partnerships with post-secondary institutions and non-profits on sustainability issues enhance student learning.
For December our focus is on celebrations!
